Five methods for Laryngeal Inspection

Our unit is an indispensable equipment in a modern ENT department, used for ear, nose and throat diagnose and treatment. In order to help you better understand the operation of our ENT treatment unit, we will introduce 5 different ways for laryngeal inspection.
Inspection with Laryngeal mirror
Hold the laryngeal mirror with your left hand, and pull the tongue of the patient downward, let the patient to sit with upper body lean a little forward, extend the jaw forward a bit and then have the patient to let out a sound of “yi”to lift the epiglottis. Then press the back of the mirror against the front of the uvula, push the soft palate upward, and observe the inside of the throat through the mirror. The image from left and right of the mirror is real, but the one from back and forth is an inverted image.If the patient has too much gag reflex, spray 4% lidocaine. If the epiglottis leans backward and blocks the sight,use a lifter to lift it up. Items that should be observed includes: the movement of vocal cords, tumour, inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa, and the remain of saliva at the throat and pharynx etc.Our ENT treatment unit has the mirror heater in-built.
Inspection with rigid endoscope : Typically Killian and Jackson method, used to romove foreign objects. No matter the patient is in sit or lying position, the image from any angle is real image.Our ENT treatment unit can be equipped with the whole system for this inspection including the camera, the monitor, the light source and the rigid laryngoscope.
Inspection with fiberoptic laryngoscope: it’s flexible and can be inserted in to have clear observation, as the forcep is too small, it is suitable for Histopathological Examination, not fit for foreign objects removal.Our ENT treatment unit can be equipped with the fiberoptic laryngoscope and the imaging system.
Inspection with Microscope: Expose the laryngeal cavity under the laryngoscope, and observe it through the surgical microscope. Normally it should be observed under the condition of general or partial anesthesia. The methods can be operated with both hands, can observe and treat trivial lesions, and is therefore widely used in the fine inspection and surgery of laryngeal.Our ENT treatment unit can be supplied with ENT microscope.
Inspection with flicker laryngoscope:
With the flicker laryngoscope, the high speed and continuous motion of the vocal cords can be slowed or stilled, and thus get to know the trivial variation or dysfunction of the vocal cords.
Our ENT treatment unit can be equipped with the filcker laryngoscope.
